Freada Kapor Klein is an entrepreneur, activist, and pioneer in the field of organizational culture and diversity.

As a founding partner at Kapor Capital, Ms. Kapor Klein invests in seed stage tech startups that create positive social impact by closing gaps of access, opportunity, or outcome for low income communities and communities of color. She is also a founding member of The Hollywood Commission, a group of leading executives in entertainment and independent experts in Hollywood dedicated to fighting gender inequality.

Ms. Kapor Klein is a former trustee of the UC Berkeley Foundation and founded SMASH—a college access program for high school students of color from low income backgrounds—on the Cal campus in 2003.

She and her husband, Mitch Kapor, are co-authors of Closing the Equity Gap, which identifies how to create wealth while simultaneously addressing the inequalities in startup investing. She is also the author of Giving Notice, which details the human and financial cost of hidden bias in the workplace. Ms. Kapor Klein was named UC Berkeley’s Alumna of the Year in 2020. She and Mitch are Builders of Berkeley.
