Lisa García Bedolla is the Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division at UC Berkeley, as well as a Professor in the School of Education. With extensive experience in political science and education research, Lisa brings deep expertise in addressing educational and political inequalities through intersectional and interdisciplinary approaches.
Previously, she has consulted for presidential campaigns, advised statewide ballot efforts, and partnered with over a dozen community organizations to empower low-income communities of color. Lisa’s research has earned five national book awards and numerous honors, and she is recognized as one of the nation’s foremost experts on political engagement within communities of color.
Lisa holds a BA in Latin American Studies and Comparative Literature from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Political Science from Yale University. She continues to lead major projects focused on voter engagement, data-driven organizing, and academic-practitioner collaboration to address systemic inequalities.
