David Robinson is the Vice Chancellor for Legal Affairs and Chief Campus Counsel at UC Berkeley. With over two decades of legal experience within the University of California system, David brings extensive expertise in construction law, real estate transactions, and higher education legal affairs.
Previously, he served as Senior Counsel in the Construction and Legislative Affairs groups at UC Legal – Office of the General Counsel, where he advised on systemwide legal matters. Prior to joining UC Legal in 2001, David was a partner at Goldfarb & Lipman in San Francisco, specializing in design and construction law, litigation, and real estate administration, including eminent domain.
David holds a BA from UC Santa Cruz and a JD from UC College of the Law, San Francisco. He has served as Chief Campus Counsel at UC Berkeley since 2011, providing legal guidance on a wide range of campus matters and serving as a key member of the university’s leadership team.
