Fabrizio Mejia is the Interim Vice Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion at UC Berkeley. With a lifelong commitment to equity, access, and justice in higher education, Fabrizio brings extensive expertise in student success, institutional transformation, and inclusive leadership.
Previously, he served as Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Equity and Success, overseeing programs such as the Basic Needs Center, Berkeley Underground Scholars, the Centers for Educational Equity and Excellence (CE3), the Disabled Students Program, and Equity and Inclusion STEM initiatives. Earlier in his career, he worked as Executive Director of CE3 and spent 12 years in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) supporting low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students as a counselor and director.
Fabrizio holds a BA from UC Berkeley and draws from his own experience as a first-generation Latinx alumnus to inform his leadership. His work has helped build state and national models for basic needs services, undocumented student support, and programs for formerly incarcerated students, reflecting his enduring belief in the transformative power of education.
