Bio/CV: 

Jen Brand is the Director of External Engagement in the Office of the Chancellor at UC Berkeley. In her role, Jen coordinates strategic external engagement and serves as a primary liaison for the Chancellor's external portfolio. She oversees the day to day operations of the Board of Visitors, the Chancellor’s external strategic advisory board. In addition, her portfolio encompasses high-level support and coordination of interactions between the Chancellor's Office, Government and Community Relations, and campus leaders. Her primary focus is translating Berkeley’s strategic priorities into meaningful, actionable engagement opportunities and ensuring alignment across all campus leadership levels.

Jen has been dedicated to the UC Berkeley community since 2014, building a diverse institutional foundation that informs her current work. She previously served as the Associate Director of Board of Visitors Operations since 2018, and began her Berkeley career as a development associate for the Rausser College of Natural Resources. This experience is grounded in her early career in the private sector, where she worked as a business analyst and marketing technology manager.

Her commitment to campus governance and elevating the staff experience is extensive. As a committed advocate for her colleagues, Jen co-founded and co-chairs the Campus Volunteer Board Network (CVBN) and served as the Operations Officer for the Berkeley Staff Assembly (BSA) Governing Council. Notably, she also devoted her time to serving as the staff representative on the UC Berkeley Chancellor Search Advisory Committee in 2024. Jen holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from UC Santa Barbara.
